It gives me great pleasure to introduce you to High Down Infant School. We are the only Infant School in Portishead and we are proud of our reputation for providing a caring and stimulating environment. We provide a wide range of balanced learning opportunities to enrich the development of each individual to help them to grow into independent and responsible people.

We have lovely school grounds for the children to use. There are two playgrounds and a field for the children to use at break times. The nursery unit has a wonderful outside space to use during work times and the reception classes also have access to their own safe play space.

 

We encourage parents to support in our school. We know how important your child's education is and we want each to achieve their full potential. We work in partnership with parent's to support children's learning. The team of committed and dedicated staff are always ready to make themselves available to discuss any aspect of your child's development.
The school has a thriving Parent Staff Association which organises enjoyable social events offering opportunities for parents and staff to work and relax together while raising valuable funds. Last year the PSA raised £10,000 which enabled the school to provide a range of extra resources.

 

We have attained the North Somerset Gold Travel Target Award for our continuing commitment to improving road safety around the school and to encouraging a healthy approach to travelling to and from the school. We encourage the children to walk all or some of the way and have been promoting 'Walk on Wednesdays' - a joint scheme with the junior school.
