High Down Nursery is part of High Down Infant School and the children are able to use many of the school resources such as the computer suite and the large school hall for P.E. The children have a safe and educationally stimulating environment. The permanent staff of two teachers and three nursery trained Teaching Assistants are extremely well qualified to support your child’s development.

 

The children have access to two play areas where they can use bikes and trikes, complete gardening activities and use the many toys we have available in the outside space. The nursery rooms are also well resourced including a large interactive whiteboard to develop early computer skills as well as a large role play area, wet area for creative development and lovely book corner.

       Parents are encouraged to take an active role and many parents help during the nursery sessions. We have super learning diaries for each child that demonstrate the children’s development throughout the year in all six areas of learning. They contain photographs of the children and are a lovely memento of their time in our nursery.

 Our sessions are 5 mornings from 9:00 – 11:30 or 5 afternoon sessions from 12:45 – 3:15. Parents do not have to take up all 5 places when their child starts but can build up to all 5 when their child is ready.

 

We support all children with transition into a school environment by getting the children involved in assemblies, P.E and using an ICT suite. This will support the children when settling into any school.

 

The best way to judge the provision we can offer is to visit the nursery and see our happy children enjoying learning through a play based curriculum. We would therefore encourage you to visit. Please telephone the school office on 01275 843969 to arrange an appointment.

 

We are currently accepting nursery applications for September 08 for children born between 01/09/04 – 31/08/05. The closing date for applications is January 25^th and forms can be collected from the school office or can be downloaded by clicking here. If you are interested in a place but this date has passed please hand in your form as since we have doubled the size of our nursery, due to our popularity, we have not had to turn any applications down.

 

We also have a few spaces currently available for any children born between. 01/09/03 – 31/08/04. Please contact the school if you are interested in these places.
