Playing, Learning, Growing...Together we can

Welcome to High Down Infant School.

This is the school office. Our secretaries Mrs Savory and Mrs Carver will help you with any questions you may have.

This is our cookery area. Groups of children use the facilities to cook a range of foods.

The aroma that wafts down the corridor often makes  the office staff very hungry.

The ICT suite contains 15 networked computers. We have a range of software to develop ICT skills from Nursery to Y2. We also have Broadband which makes visiting websites very quick.

We have computers in classrooms for the children to use and all  classes have interactive whiteboards and digital cameras to develop the children's ICT skills.

The new Library is a fantastic resource for the children.

The Nursery Unit is a lovely new building which was completed in January 05. We can admit 50 children in the mornings and 50 in the afternoons. There are two teachers and three nursery nurses in the unit. The unit has areas for quiet reading, role play, construction, ICT, sand and water play, art activities, writing and maths.

The nursery unit is surrounded by a play space where children can ride bikes and trikes, use the large chalk board, play in the house, use the car mat as well as using a variety of resources set up daily. The children can use  either the indoor or outdoor space for learning and teaching activities are designed to support their learning styles.

The hall is used for PE, assemblies and lunch. The hall was extended in 2005 and is a lovely large space.

We have lovely grounds surrounding the school which includes two playgrounds and a field.

The front playground has an activity centre, a playhouse, a decked area, a shaded seating area as well as a large playground.

The children also have balls, skipping ropes and other activities to use on the playground when the weather permits.

The back playground has a train and a boat to play on. The boat has a slide, climbing area and tunnel and the children thoroughly enjoy using the apparatus. There is also a covered seating area for the children to use.

The children also have balls, skipping ropes and other activities to use on the playground when the weather permits
